Nashville-Buffalo Update: Miller Returns, Gerbe and Kaleta are Sidelined

According to Mike Vogl of ‘The Buffalo News,’ Ryan Miller is slated to return between the pipes for the Sabres, which is obviously a good thing. Despite him not playing up to his usual standards, Miller’s definitely the best starting option for the team. Jhonas Enroth was starting to show signs of wearing down while he was the acting starting goaltender. Despite his recent struggles, something that should make fans very hopeful for the future is how mentally tough Enroth was during all of that. Hopefully, his teammates will play better in front of him. I’m also hoping that Miller comes back with a chip on his shoulder, looking to prove the doubters wrong. He seems to play better with that kind of mindset. Here’s a quote from Miller, courtesy of  ‘The Buffalo News’

“I’m excited to play,” he said following the morning skate in Bridgestone Arena. “I love to play hockey. I’ve been missing it for a while here. With this injury, it’s one of those things where you can’t do much. I’m definitely excited to be back on the ice and just looking to get my game where it needs to be to help give the guys a chance to win. I want to get back and definitely re-establish my game a little bit.”

There is some bad news to report though. Nathan Gerbe didn’t make the trip to Nashville because of the cut that he got from Paul Gaustad’s skate blade in last night’s game. Buffalo was forced to call up Corey Tropp from Rochester because Matt Ellis will already be in the lineup tonight replacing Pat Kaleta who reaggravated his groin. It’s shame to see Pat progressively working himself into Tim Connolly territory as far as injury frequency is concerned. The good news is that the team isn’t relying on him to be a big part of the team, although his penalty killing and big hits will definitely be missed tonight against a tough Predators team.

With both of those guys out, I would anticipate Ellis and Tropp just sliding into the two vacant spots on Gaustad’s line while the other three lines stay intact, but you never know when Lindy will just throw all of the forwards into a blender and hit frappe. Jordan Leopold is still hurt, so Joe Finley remained with the team and accompanied them to Nashville.

These are the expected lineups for both teams.
